ALMONTE - Evaluation eines veränderten Montessori-Diplomkurskonzepts –empirische Einblicke und Empfehlungen

ALMONTE – Evaluation of an Alternative Montessori Course Concept – Empirical Knowledge and Recommendations

  • For the mixed-methods study „ALMONTE – Evaluation of an Alternative Montessori Course Concept – Empirical Knowledge and Recommendations“ two national Montessori courses were investigated for the first time by the view of the participants. Therefore an alternative course concept was developed, carried out, scientifically accompanied and comparatively evaluated with the traditional course concept. The theoretical and practical relations of the ALMONTE concept are profound in the constructivistically view on adult education, in the knowledge and focusing of a critical feedback former participants, the professionalizing teacher debate and the perceptions of efficiency of the continuation of teacher´s advanced training. The attempt of research is open and settled on a qualitative understanding. The sample survey contented 58 participants from two courses as well as their training staff. Therefore guideline based interviews and self developed questionnaires were obtained. They were assessed by the qualitative content analysis respectively quantitative methods and finally triangulated. In the overview the results are seen as explorative. The primary gain was to compare the opinions according to the investigations of the alternative and traditional concept. The results offer that the application of constructivistically methods of adult education is differently accepted by the participants. Moreover they show that the acquired teaching skills for individualized learning are very differently accepted and implemented by the individual person in their professional practice. On the base of the results recommendation for further developments of a modern course concept are framed.
